Free tools for removing Conficker; Beware scams!

Security experts discovered an easy way to detect and remove the Conficker worm Monday. Click here to download a Trend Micro program that will remove it for free.
More info on the Conficker worm is available in this Q&A I did with SSU Professor George Ledin, who teaches a virus writing course to students. Also there is this Q&A written by an anti-malware firm, and this great timeline of the worm by Byron Acohido, a USA Today tech reporter.
Scammers have tricked Google into ranking scam removal products or downright viruses high in the results for searches like "Remove Conficker," according to this blog post by anti-malware developer Trend Micro.
Again, Trend Micro offers this free, effective program for removing Conficker on its Web site here.
The Web site www.F-secure.com identified several scam products for sale that do nothing buy take your money. Its post is here.
One product, called MalwareRemoval Bot, asks for $39.95 to remove the worm, but doesn't do it, according to F-Secure.com.
"It's fake," said Patrik Runald, on the F-secure blog. "It does not remove Conficker.C. We tried it and it didn't do a thing to remove it."
